Las Vegas Advisor Membership (The Best $50 You Can Spend)
As prices in Las Vegas rise, everyone wants to save money on their trips. There's nothing better to help you accomplish this than a membership to the Las Vegas Advisor (LVA). The LVA reaches out to Las Vegas businesses and secures coupons for it's member to help save on Accomodations, Food, Gambling, Shows, and more. Simply follow the instructions on the back of the coupon for redemption. Note that some do require you to have a player's card so a trip to the player's club may be required even if you don't redeem the coupon at the club desk.
After purchasing a one year Platinum membership to the LVA you will be mailed a copy of their membership coupon book. This also gives you access to their monthly newsletter that keeps you up to date on a events and news around Las Vegas. Membership that includes the coupon book currently runs $50 for the year. If your trip is approaching, you can also choose to have the book waiting for you at their office at 3665 Procyon St. This is over near the Rio so not far off the strip. They also have options to deliver the coupon book to your hotel. In addition to the coupon book there are also online coupons that you will gain access to print out and use. Note a vast majority of the coupons are for Fremont Street hotels and casinos. To make the most of the LVA you will need to spend at least a day downtown using these coupons.
Highlights of our favorite and suggested coupons:
Accommodations:There are a few coupons to save you money on rooms. If you have no history of play in town and not getting any offers these can help you get a foot in the door for less than paying rack rate with the hotel (rack rate is just the basic cost of the room the hotel charges with no comps or rebates).
Downtown Grand Waived Resort Fee. The current resort fee at the Downtown Grand is $39 per day per room. The coupon gives you a code to use while booking on the hotel's booking website and must be given at check in.
Plaza: 25% off room rate. Same as the Downtown Grand. Use the code provided at booking to receive the lower rates.
Dining: If you arent a gambler then this is where the value is for the LVA.
El Cortez Siegel's 1941 BOGO Entree: We recently used this coupon for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the affordability and quality of the food. Highly reccommended. More Info and Menus
Ellis Island BOGO At Village Pub or BBQ: If you aren't in the mood for the popular Steak special that Village Pub offers then this coupon is a great option. A short walk from the strip behind Horseshoe, Ellis Island offers an affordable food options with decent quality. I've yet to eat at the BBQ restaurant as we always opt for Village Pub. Great Fish And Chips here. Also available for 50% off if dining solo. More info and menus.
Emerald Island Grille BOGO Entree: This is way off the strip in Henderson. So will likely need a car to take advantage of this one, but it's worth it. My personal favorite place to eat in all of the Las Vegas valley. This is also available at 50% off if dining solo. More Info and menus.
Four Queens Magnolia's Veranda BOGO: Another staple of our visits. We eat here nearly every visit. Price is affordable and a nice atmosphere overlooking the casino floor. Note this is not eligible for breakfast. Lunch or Dinner only. They do however serve breakfast all day so speak to your server if you want to use it for a breakfast offering. More Info and menus.
Palm's A.Y.C.E. Buffet BOGO or 50% off solo. This is the most lucritive coupon available for LVA membership. It is available in the online coupons not the coupon book, so you have to print it off online to redeem. This is eligible for the Wednesday and Thursday night seafood buffet which currently cost $64.99. Using this coupon alone will pay for your membership. More Info
Gambling: There are 8 match play coupons in the book totalling a max of $190. Two of these are at Derek Stevens properties on Fremont (The D and Golden Gate) for $25 each. Near the strip you have Ellis Island, Westgate and Oyo as well. For more infomation on match plays check out my blog here.
In addition to the match plays there are several free slot play coupons. 4 Queens and Plaza (which also offers a match play) are the ones we make sure to take advantage of every year.
The slot bonus coupons from The D and Golden Gate are also available to new sign ups for the players club. So if you are new to these properties take advantage of that offer first then if you visit again at a later date, you can use the coupon to do it again. It takes a lot of play to see much from this coupon so understandbly if you choose to skip it. Just wanted to make sure people were aware they could get it without using the coupon on their first visit.
One more coupon of considerable value to video poker players is also at the Plaza. The royal flush bonus. If you are going to be playing video poker, you might as well take advantage of this offer. From the terms of the coupon: Valid in Sand Dollar Downtown bar only. Receive $500 slot free-play when you hit a natural royal flush (no wild cards). Valid when playing 25¢ and up (min. 5-coin play).
Others:
The Mob Museum: $4 off admission. I can't speak on this much as I've yet to visit. It does appear to be fairly popular for people to visit while downtown and $4 is that much more that you can save.
There are likely other coupons that might interest you. I just wanted to lsit a few that we take advantage of every year.
